Support Project Cinderella

Project Cinderella is an initiative of BCFS Health and Human Services-Tyler that helps youth from foster care, and those that have experienced abuse or neglect, enjoy the quintessential American high school tradition – a memorable prom, dressed to the nines!

Each year, we provide new and gently used prom dresses and tuxedo rentals to youth in our programs who have limited financial resources, and we host a beautiful prom night for them to enjoy.

Thanks to our friends at Brides and Belles and other community partners, we have received a collection of gorgeous prom dresses for our young women to choose from. Our friends at Men’s Wearhouse have generously agreed to subsidize the cost of tuxedo rentals if we provide just $25 for each young man. But, we need your help to ensure all our youth can complete their looks, and make prom a night to remember!

We hope that you will join us in making a monetary contribution, or donating brand new ladies’ shoes or jewelry. A gift of $25 could provide a tuxedo rental for a young man, or enable a young woman to shop for her own accessories or shoes to dance the night away!

At BCFS-Tyler, we provide youth from foster care and those struggling to transition to adulthood with a support system they can count on, and the tools to become self-sufficient, positive contributors to the community. Often, youth in our care have dropped out of high school, but through our services they pursue alternative means to education, including charter schools, GED classes or online coursework. Unfortunately, these labor-intensive endeavors, while rewarding, come without the social opportunities of a traditional high school experience – no basketball games, no homecoming, and certainly no prom. Though our youth have grown up in very unique circumstances, we try to provide them with some of the same experiences as other kids their age. Prom is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we don’t want them to miss out.

To make a monetary contribution online, please visit DiscoverBCFS.net/youthcenters/tyler. To drop off a check or a donation of new ladies’ jewelry or shoes, visit BCFS-Tyler located at 1012 Meadow Lane, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thank you for your support of Project Cinderella, and the incredible youth we serve! The deadline to receive donations is March 1, 2017.
