BCFS Health and Human Services’ Emergency Management Division (EMD) is proud of our longtime partnerships with local, state, and federal governments to help our fellow Texans and Americans when disaster strikes.
The 2017 Hurricane Season has brought widespread devastation and destruction to families and communities in the paths of hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Entire communities have suffered structural damage and flooding. Millions have lost power And those who have lost loved ones are grieving while facing the difficult challenges of rebuilding their lives or finding a new place to call home.
We are grateful for the brave first responders who have selflessly risked their own lives to protect and save others. EMD is honored to stand beside them on the front lines to answer the call for help.
Below is a brief overview of the taskings BCFS’ EMD has led, to date, to serve individuals and families in their greatest time of need (coming Soon).
Several locations within the BCFS System remain closed or are in the process of recovery. Our Miami office remains closed and we remain prepared to support impacted personnel and their families, as needed.
Our Emergency Management Division stands ready for additional emergency management tasking.
The 2017 hurricane season will be remembered as one of the most active and destructive in modern history. Please join us in praying for all those whose lives have been affected by these storms, and for the first responders and good Samaritans who heroically put their lives on the line to help others.
